What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are injectable aesthetic treatments made up of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally by our bodies and is a major component of our skin. As we age, humans slowly lose volume and tone in many areas of the body. We tend to notice this most in the face but it happens everywhere!

Dermal fillers are used to add volume, shape and plump in areas of the face that have been affected by aging. Fillers can also be used to enhance what is naturally occurring.

Commonly-treated areas include the lips, cheeks and under the eyes (to minimize dark circles or bags). Other areas can be treated too, including the nose, jawline and temples.

Different types of filler are used for different parts of the face. The most significant difference between types of fillers is the consistency (think thin vs. thick). Pearl in King keeps several varieties of fillers on hand so our injectors can match the right filler to the part of the face they are treating.

Thank you for the mini lip-plump. I promised I would write to you to let you know how very happy I am with it :) It is already really beautiful, and I guess it has not even settled fully yet. Thank you for your care, your kindness and your attention to detail.

Safety

Dermal fillers are approved for cosmetic medical purposes in Canada. They are considered safe as long as the treatment is performed by a licenced medical professional with appropriate supervision.

Although it is rare for a knowledgeable and experienced injector to make a serious error causing a complication in treatment, it is possible. We keep hyaluronidase on hand in the rare event that the effects of treatment need to be reversed. Hyaluronidase are a category of enzymes that degrade hyaluronic acid, making it possible to reverse a filler treatment thereby minimizing long-term complications that might arise in the event that something goes wrong with a treatment.

Pearl on King’s nurse injectors follow a detailed medical directive. This ensures that our nurse injectors follow appropriate safety procedures. While we want to help you meet your beauty goals, we will never do it at the cost of your safety!

How Long Does a Treatment Last?

Dermal fillers typically last for 6 to 24 months after the treatment. The range of time is wide because it takes into account many variables, including the area where the filler is injected, the type and consistency of the filler used and the rate that your body metabolizes the product.

For clients desiring a dramatic look, best results are achieved with a treatment plan involving multiple appointments spaced out over time. Gradually building your look leads to better results!

Although most people are good candidates for dermal fillers, it is important to undergo a medical consultation before receiving treatment.
